We are launching the call for our 2nd themed publication on Language open to the Chinese diaspora.
What does language mean to you and what experiences have you had – be it learning or losing a language? How does language connect us to ourselves and our families? What difficulties have language barriers made for you, or what opportunities for learning and connection has it served?
This edition of the magazine will be online-first. We are currently looking at fundraising and sponsorship avenues for print. You can find the first COVID-19 themed edition of the magazinehere!
We are accepting artwork, poetry, photo stories and writing (max 500 words)! Please feel free to send a collection of photos/artwork, however we may choose a smaller selection for publication.
The project is funded by the City of Ottawa but is open to all.
Please send your submissions to [email protected]by November 16, 2021.
Following a grant application we made to the City's Arts & Culture Department, we have received additional resources to compensate artists. Accepted submissions will now receive a $150 honourarium (Increased from last year's $50 honourarium.)
Accepted submissions will also go through an involved editing process with all edits finalized and discussed with artists.
Please save files as FirstName LastName - Title with written pieces in Word or other editable files and send in a short bio and/or photo for print alongside if you wish!
Submissions are open to all ages! We accept all levels of art & submissions in Simplified, Traditional Chinese and English. Accepted submissions will also be translated into either English and/or Traditional Chinese.
